0:00-0:13- Black screen only the sound of radios.
0:13-0:20- Radio mixture sound continues. The shape of the earth emerges from the shadows and the sun is revealed (establishing shot). The camera zooms out.
0:20-1:20- The camera continues to zoom out giving the audience the impression that planets are flying towards earth and the sun. The sun remains the only means of lighting within the scene.
1:20-1:24- The camera zooms out at an increased speed and the sound of the radios quieten to a silence. The sun is now a small speck in the sky and there is no object of focus within the frame.
1:24-1:33-Two bright lights come into shot and it is unclear whether they are moving towards earth or whether the camera is still zooming out. The only noise is a very faint sound of music.
1:33-2:43- The camera continues to zoom out at increasing speeds passed star constellations. However, the audience cannot linger on them as not enough time is given. There is no sound whatsoever and this strikes me as odd, because I have never seen another movie where there is absolutely no sound for a prolonged period of time, especially in the opening credits.
2:43-2:49-The camera zooms out at a very high speed leaving the stars blurred.
2:49-2:57- There is dialogue that the audience is instantly aware of, the lack of noise before this makes the audience know that what she is saying is very important. The camera continues to zoom out, but at a decreased speed and the stars form an extreme closeup of a persons eye.
